Exhibition “Exploring Ukraine through money: from the Kyiv Rus to the Euromaidan” opened in Seoul

With the assistance of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Korea, we have the opportunity to share with you another important event on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea (celebrated on February 10, 2022).

The special exhibition “Exploring Ukraine through money: from the Kyiv Rus to the Euromaidan” opened in the capital of the Republic of Korea, Seoul, on the occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea (celebrated on February 10, 2022).

The opening ceremony took place on January 24, 2022, and was attended by the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Korea Park Jong-Seok, General Director of the Communications Department Jung Il Dong, Museum Director Kim Jin Young and the Embassy’s representatives.

The exhibition features about 250 commemorative coins and banknotes, demonstrating diverse aspects of Ukraine’s history, culture, scientific, economic and sports achievements.

The exposition consists of several thematic parts: “Ukraine: The Golden Land”, representing the history of Ukraine, reflected in its currency; “Hryvnia: from the Kyiv Rus to Ukraine”, telling the history of the modern national currency of Ukraine; “Commemorative coins of Ukraine: big stories in small discs”, introducing a variety of NBU coins, dedicated to the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Ukraine; “National Bank of Ukraine”, representing the main financial institution in Ukraine and the NBU Money Museum.

The project was realized by the Bank of Korea with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Korea, the National Bank of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The exhibition is being held at the Bank of Korea Money Museum, situated in the center of Seoul, and receives more than 2 million Korean and foreign visitors each year.

It presents a great opportunity for the Korean public to learn more about Ukraine and expand the understanding of its history and traditions.

The exhibition is open from 25.01.2022 to 13.11.2022.
